South Korea’s Kim Young-gwon scored the first goal of the game in the third minute of added time. Son Heung-min made it 2-0 in the sixth minute of added time.

Germany finished fourth in Group F with three points. South Korea also earned three points, but placed third due to goal differential.

In another Group F match — which took place at the same time — Sweden defeated Mexico by a crushing 3-0 margin and placed first in the group, making it to the knockout stage of the tournament.

Sweden earned six points and led the group, while Mexico placed second (six points) due to additional indicators.

The Group E matches — which will take place later on Wednesday — will determine Mexico and Sweden’s opening opponents in the first round of the knockout stage.

Mexico will play their next game on July 2 in Samara, Russia, while Sweden will face their Group E rivals on July 3 in St. Petersburg.
