Watch: Boy grabs homer at Rays game, has biggest grin ever Boy catches homer at Rays game cant stop smiling

July 11 (UPI) — A boy could not stop smiling after snagging a home run in the stands hit during a Tampa Bay Rays win against the Detroit Tigers.

The long ball was hit by Wilson Ramos in the bottom of the third inning in the 5-2 victory Tuesday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Willy Adames gave the Rays a 1-0 edge in the inning by hitting an RBI single off Tigers starter Matthew Boyd. Kevin Kiermaier plated another run in the following at-bat, sending Adames home on a single to left field.

Ramos stepped up to the plate as the seventh batter of the inning. Kiermaier stood on second base and Daniel Robertson was on first with two outs in the frame.

Ramos crushed Boyd’s first offering — a 92.3 mph fastball — to deep right field. The ball just cleared the outfield fence, finding the first row of fans. A boy decked out in a Rays hat and shirt snared the three-run shot. He immediately looked at his dad, sporting a huge smile. The two shared a hug before the boy grabbed the ball out of his glove once more to make sure he could believe his eyes.

That was the last run of the game for the Rays. Detroit attempted to make a comeback — getting an RBI double from Nicholas Castellanos and an RBI single from Niko Goodrum in the ninth inning — but couldn’t close the gap.
