DUBAI: Former Test captain and commentator Ramiz Raja said on Thursday that he would like to see final of the ongoing edition of the Pakistan Super League between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars.
Speaking to Geo News, he said: “ I believe that we have not seen and have not ignited the rivalry between Lahore and Karachi since the time when my elder brother Waseem Raja used to play,” adding, “I want the rivalry to be re-ignited as massive cricketing talent comes through it.”
Raja said that as Lahore Qalandars got a tough time in the previous two seasons, they may win this edition of the tournament. “I will give them a slight edge,” he said.
Responding over a question, Raja said that batting is the weak link in Pakistani national team, and he wants to see new talented batsman entering in the national squad via PSL.
“India improved in bowling, there team is balanced now. Previously they were dependent on batting but as there bowling is strong now it is very difficult to beat them. I want new batsmen to come from PSL,” he added.
He said that with the PSL getting stronger with every new season, the myth that Pakistan cannot look after good talent has been broken.
Raja said that he will be closely looking at the performances of Shaheen Afridi, Sahibzada Farhan, Ibtisam Sheikh, Junaid Khan, Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali in this edition of the PSL.
