A dismembered body has been found in a park three days after the mutilated remains of a woman were discovered a few miles away, according to US reports.
A passer-by made the gruesome discovery – two bags filled with human remains – on Tuesday evening.
ABC reported that the bags were found by a child and contained a foot and an arm.
The latest find was made at Barretto Point Park, in the Bronx, an area popular with families because it has a pool.
It is three miles north of where the first discovery was made on a pavement close to another Bronx location, Crotona Park, on Friday.
According to The New York Times, officers are investigating whether the two incidents are connected and if the newly-discovered remains are definitely human.
At a news conference, NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot F Shea said the woman found near Crotona Park had died from blunt force trauma.

He said officers had not yet identified her despite receiving numerous tip-offs. They have since released a sketch of the woman, who is described as white Hispanic.
New York City Council member Vanessa Gibson said residents were shocked by the discovery of the dead woman.
She told The New York Times: “Someone has no regard for life and it’s disturbing… I’m sorry this happened to that young lady.”
The two discoveries come after the dismembered body of 26-year-old Brandy Odom were found in Brooklyn’s Canarsie Park in April.
Police said on Saturday there were no updates on the death of Ms Odom. An investigation into her death is also ongoing.
